100 Poetic Movie-Titles in English

Some may disagree with my definitions of ‘poetic’, in which case you can just take this as ‘100 Wonderful Movie Titles’. Anyway, these are all titles of English-language films or the English translations of foreign titles. I haven’t included any original foreign titles because the French and Italian ones especially - Tout Les Matins Du Monde, Hiroshima Mon Amour, L’Aventurra, La Terra Trama etc- often sound so poetic that they’d probably take up all 100 places. Maybe I’ll do a separate list for them later.

Many of these films are classics, perhaps because the imagination that went into naming them was carried over into the actual movies. For others, though, the title may be the only good thing about them. I’ve tried hard to disassociate the title from the film itself. Though it’s uncannily difficult, after seeing it, to admit that something like ‘Things to Do in Denver When You’re Dead’ is actually an excellent title, I have included it and other bad films because the relevant question here is: did the movie sound interesting before anyone saw it?

I’ve excluded films that are already in my previous blog-posts  about Chinese and Japanese Titles.
