My 150 All-Time Favourite Films

A lot of the fun of making up lists like this is that you get to remember and reflect on special personal reactions to films. That personal element is also the reason other people are inevitably going to disagree with you. I’m sure anyone who reads this will do as I do when I read people’s favourite movie lists. They’ll go: “yes/yes/OK, maybe/I liked it but not that much/yes/yes/ NO!!!! No Way! Are you on drugs???/yes/yes/OK....”

But that can't be helped….

Many of these films I’ve seen over and over and so can say with some certainty that they are favourites. Others I’ve only seen once and/or I haven’t seen them in over a decade - and maybe if I saw them again now my opinon would change - but my first impression was so positive I had to include them. All of them did that ‘transcendent’ thing to me- rooted me to my seat, made me completely forget my surroundings, took me to another place….
